Peppery Shrimp

Packed with protein, shrimp always make a party feel special.

Louisiana Shrimp Rice Dressing

Our resident Louisianan, associate food editor Alexis Touchet, remembers this dressing from her childhood—and it's the one that still graces her family's Thanksgiving meal, year after year. This dressing is not considered a stuffing for the turkey, but a dish that "dresses up" the table.

Green Curry Shrimp with Noodles

This quick dish has all the deep, exciting flavors of Southeast Asia. The curry paste already has lemongrass in it, so don't worry if you can't find fresh: It will still be delicious without it.

Shrimp and Spinach with Tomato Curry Over Naan

We were happy to learn that some brands of frozen naan are remarkably good.

Plantation Shrimp with Shiitake Mushrooms and Baby Bok Choy

This recipe is part of a menu developed for Epicurious by Charles Phan, the chef-owner of San Francisco's The Slanted Door. Read more about Phan and Vietnamese food.

Baked Shrimp with Scallions, Tomatoes, and Feta

When dinner needs to be on the table fast, you can rely on this colorful and flavorful dish. You have the option of spooning the shrimp onto a bed of rice or orzo, or just using crusty bread to soak up the juice.

Jumbo Shrimp with Fregola

Editor's note: This recipe is adapted from Sardinian chef Raffaele Solinas. Solinas also shared some helpful cooking tips exclusively with Epicurious, which we've added at the bottom of the page. In this recipe, a simple fish broth enhances the flavor of the shrimp. Though head-on shrimp can be difficult to find, it's worth the extra effort to seek them out — they contribute depth and richness. The fregola should absorb enough broth to swell and soften, but the dish should retain a soupy consistency. This dish is traditionally served with carta da musica, a crisp Sardinian flatbread, and accompanied by a flavorful dry white wine such as Vermentino.

Shrimp Cakes with Chili-Lime Cream Sauce

Bonnie Hillard of Washington, DC, writes: "My sister and I stumbled across Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar at the end of a day of shopping at the Kapalua Shops on Maui. We'd read about this popular spot in a guidebook, and we couldn't resist stopping in for dinner. Everything was fabulous, especially the shrimp cakes we shared."

Shrimp in Yuca Coconut Purée

Bobó de Camarão Though folding the shrimp into the purée is traditional in Brazil, we placed it on top for a prettier presentation.

Bahian Chicken and Shrimp Stew

Xinxim de Galinha We debated whether to simmer or boil the coconut milk for this dish, fearing flavor loss or curdling. We ended up adding it at room temperature, with great results.

Seafood Pasta with Lemon-Saffron Herb Dressing

This elegant dish would be lovely for lunch. What to drink: Something light and fruity, like Sancerre or rosé.

Chicken Breasts with Rock-Shrimp Sauce

Pair this surf-and-turf dish with white rice to soak up the delicious rock-shrimp sauce — a quick and easy variation on Marcella Hazan's pink shrimp sauce (from "Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking"), which she serves over pasta.

Grilled Beef, Chicken, Shrimp, and Mushroom Skewers

To make your cocktail party more participatory, have your guests grill their own skewers. A hibachi is even more user-friendly than a grill, since the ends of the skewers hang out over the edge, eliminating the need for tongs. If you're cooking everything yourself, it's easiest to use a large grill or a broiler (see cooks' note, below) and serve the skewers in batches.

Spicy Thai Shrimp with Mint Raita

This calorie bargain, the second winner from Red Mountain, owes its flavor to chef Luethje's mix of Thai chile paste, fresh ginger, and raita, an Indian yogurt salad. The shrimp supplies lean protein, the yogurt calcium.
