Name: Fried Green Tomatoes with Dijon Pepper Dippin’ Sauce
Yield: serves 6
Ingredients: 3 or 4 large firm green tomatoes; Salt; 2 cups vegetable or peanut oil for deep-frying; 1 cup buttermilk; 2 cups self-rising flour; Dijon Pepper Dippin’ Sauce (recipe follows); 1 cup Dijon mustard; 1/2 cup mayonnaise; 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar; 1 tablespoon white pepper; 4 tablespoons coarsely ground black pepper; 1/2 cup vegetable oil; 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes; 1 tablespoon whole peppercorns; (makes 2 cups)
